Google is Changing the Rules for Unique Product Identifiers
Yet another announcement from Google, and this time it is all about product feeds and unique product identifiers. Specifically though, Google will be enforcing new rules for retailers as of September 30th!
New Google Merchant Center Shipping Requirements for Select Countries
As of July 31st, 2019, retailers with country of sale set to Austria, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, or Poland will be required to submit accurate shipping rates for their product feeds in Google Merchant Center. Rates can be applied using the general account-level Shipping settings in Merchant Center or sent directly in the feed using the shipping attribute.
Google Adds Organic Listings for Merchant Center Feeds
Yesterday, Google officially announced three major “upgrades” to three of its core products: Merchant Center, Search Console, and Manufacturer Center. The add-ons to Merchant Center and Search Console are especially exciting for retailers as Google has expanded the capabilities of search platform to aid merchants in reaching more shoppers online.
Google Expands GTIN Enforcement Criteria in Merchant Center
A notice has gone out to all Merchant Center account owners regarding Google expanding the GTIN enforcement criteria when sending a product feed. Specifically, this notice is in regards to a Merchant Center warning for products labeled ‘GTIN not related to brand’.

We’re starting to see Google’s latest overhaul of Merchant Center and we are really liking the new look and feel of it. The change was made to the Feed Diagnostics section. Google not only cleaned up the aesthetics, but they also added a lot more ease to filtering (among a few other “upgrades”).
